1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 Federal Census Records are in existence for West Virginia.

1890 Federal Census schedules were completely destroyed by fire.

The 1890 Veterans and Widows Census did survive and is a valuable resource as a census substitute.
