1772 Tax Records for Northampton
County, PA can prove helpful for locating Pennsylvania ancestors prior to 1790
when Federal census records began. These tax records are included in the
1772-1890 Pennsylvania Census

1798 Pennsylvania Tax Records (also known as the Pennsylvania Glass or Window Tax)
may be a helpful tool to researchers as it contains many individuals not
enumerated in the 1800 Federal census records for Pennsylvania.
Federal
Pennsylvania census records begin in 1790 and a census was taken
every decade thereafter. They are available to the public for the
following census
years: 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900,
1910, 1920 & 1930.

1800 Federal Pennsylvania Census Records are missing part of
the schedules for Westmoreland County.
1810 Federal Pennsylvania Census Records are missing some parts
of the schedules for Bedford County, Cumberland County & Philadelphia
County.
1890 Federal Pennsylvania Census Records were totally destroyed by
a 1921 warehouse fire, but the Veterans and Widows census schedules did survive and
may provide a helpful census substitute.
