About Census Records at

Census Finder

Our mission is to provide access to all available census records online. This includes both free and paid subscriptions.  Our census directory can be found below.  Ancestry.com has completed every name indexing of all U.S. census records and the images are online. Search these in the searchbox to the right.

NOTE: Due to the many genealogy subscriptions online now, census records on CD Rom are becoming obsolete.

Maine Census Notes

Between 1650 & 1819 Maine was under the jurisdiction of Massachusetts.  Statehood was achieved in 1820.  Remember this when searching early Maine records.

An 1837 Special Census for Maine has been located and much of it is online.  A few of the larger cities are not included in this online version.

1837 Special Maine Census
