Idaho Census Notes

Idaho is included in the Federal census of Oregon Territory for the census year 1850. See 1850 Census of Oregon Territory at Ancestry.

Idaho is included in the Federal census of Washington Territory for the year 1860.  See 1857-1892 Washington State and Territorial Census Records at Ancestry.

A small portion of what is now known as the Bear Lake area of Idaho is included on the 1860 Federal census for Cache County, Utah Territory.

A portion of the Bear Lake area and Franklin County of Idaho was enumerated on the 1870 Federal census for Cache County, Utah.

Federal Idaho census records are available to the public for census years: 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930. See 1790-1940 US Census Records at Ancestry.

The 1890 Idaho Federal Census schedules were completely destroyed by a 1921 warehouse fire including the veterans and widows schedules. See A Fire Destroyed The 1890 Census, Bridging the 1890 Census Gap.
