A "Stray" is:
a recorded event in
which a person is described in the record as being from or connected
with, a place (such as a County) outside the area in which they
normally lived.
A Workhouse is:
A house built or used to house destitute (poor) people. Employment
was provided. The Oxford Dictionary states: A workhouse for
the poor and house of correction for vagrants and disorderly
