Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village  [Virtual Tour]

Devoted to the preservation and exhibit of the agricultural history of Delaware and the Delmarva Peninsula.  Not only a museum full of exhibits but there is a very nice replicated 1890s rural village to explore as you step back in time.

Visit at 866 N. DuPont Highway in Dover, DE.

John Dickinson Plantation  [Photo Tour]

Once home to John Dickinson (a founding father and signer of the Constitution), the historic home and plantation offers tours with interpreters in historic dress.  The home was built ca 1740 and remained in the family until the 20th Century.    Located at 340 Kitts Hummock Rd in Dover, DE.

Johnson Victrola Museum  [Photo Tour]

Learn about the development of the sound recording industry beginning with the wonderful talking machine.  View exhibits of antique phonographs, memorabilia, recordings and other artifacts.  The museum is a memorial to inventor E. R. Johnson.

DE First Presbyterian Church

Known as the first Presbyterian Church built in Wilmington, it was erected in 1740.  Built of brick with a gambrel roof, the church was once used as a hospital for wounded American soldiers after the 1777 Battle of the Brandywine.  It was used as a church until 1838 then served as a school, and later a library.  In 1981, it was restored to original condition.  Owned and maintained by the NSCDA in Delaware, it is open for tours once a month or by application.  Located at the corner of S. Park and West Street in Wilmington, DE.

Delaware History Museum  [Distinctively Delaware]

Located at the Delaware Historical Society in Wilmington, Delaware, the museum offers a plethora of Delaware history for all ages and is housed in an old Woolworth store.

This 300 acre estate built ca 1909 and home to Alfred I. du Pont is currently being renovated and scheduled to reopen in 2008.  Located on Rockland Road between Children's Drive and Route 202 in Wilmington, DE.

This lovely English Country Estate Mansion was erected between 1851 and 1854.  Originally built for merchant banker Joseph Shipley, it has been restored, and opened for tours.  Filled with period furnishings and surrounded by beautiful gardens enclosed by a ha ha, it is a delight to behold.  Located at 610 Shipley Road in Wilmington, DE.

Built ca 1798 by Charles Hillyard III, the house has been called home by doctors, judges, senators, and since the purchase by the state in 1965, it has been home to 8 Delaware governors.  It is even claimed to be home to a few ghosts.  The home is available for tours and is located at 151 Kings Highway in Dover, DE.

Marvel Carriage Museum

The museum contains a collection of historic buildings and horse drawn carriages.  Historic buildings include a church, blacksmith shop, one-room schoolhouse and a barn.  Historical artifacts, photographs, newspapers and memorabilia bring the history of Georgetown to life for visitors.  This life-long love of Nutter D. Marvel is located at 510 S. Bedford Street in Georgetown, DE.

Nanticoke Indian Museum

The museum is housed in a one-room school building.  Focused on the history of the Nanticoke Indian Tribe, the museum features many artifacts of "The People of the Tide Water".  Located at 27073 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro, DE.
